Back Across

We just crossed back to the south side of the Arctic Circle. No lines on the water – just the globe-shaped monument. The ceremony on deck was handing out cod liver oil – simulating the Arctic explorers – pass.
Today is mostly cruising but at least there is some sun and we are able to see the magnificent scenery.
Now that we are farther south, there is less snow and warmer temps. On our first, very short stop today I went geocaching again and this time we were able to find the cache. The smart Norwegian hung it in a tree above the snow and only a short way from the sidewalk.
Our ship’s entertainment staff held a Norwegian folk dancing class – fun and some good laughs. Our next stop is longer so we’ll take a walk around town – Brønnøysund – where there should be more caches and, according to Matt, good ice cream.
Our dinner was a special 5-course meal to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Hurtigruten Ship Company. It was very nice and Dan and I shared the drinks package that was matched to the courses. The main course, of course, was fish. They say the Norwegian motto is “In cod we trust”.
