Celeste Fritz took up quilting in 2007 after going to the Houston International Quilt Festival “just to look”. She was hooked and it has become her passion. A member of the West Houston Quilters Guild, Celeste has been on the board in several capacities, including Retreat Chair, Secretary, and President. She has served as the Quilt Entries chair for the past three guild quilt shows as well.
Quilting has many different techniques, and Celeste has taken classes in quite a few of them, including: traditional piecing, miniature art quilts, thread painting, paper piecing, mock mola and more. Several of her quilts have won first and second place ribbons at her guild quilt shows.
Celeste’s storage area has so much fabric and tools that she is trying to focus on the backlog of projects (aka UFOs, or Unfinished Objects), hoping to complete most of them before she gets too old to sew a straight seam. It’s hard to pass up new challenges and the beautiful quilt possibilities that are out there, though.
