We left our genial B&B hostess, Patricia, this morning and the group headed out on a small bus for County Cork. Our first stop was at the gazebo in the park of Adare, where we each introduced ourselves and James & Kort played us a song.
We arrived at the city center of Cork Town where we were given about two hours to explore and find lunch. We had already been warned that dinner would be substantial, so we had soup and brown soda bread for lunch. Several of us walked to the English Market, but it was closed for the bank holiday. I tried to find a geocache, and we were in the vicinity but ran out of time to do more than a cursory search.
We are now in the town of Skibbereen for three nights at a very nice hotel. Dinner was, as promised, substantial and even included a couple of songs from James & Kort. Tonight we had a private concert from one of Ireland’s top singer-songwriters, John Spillane. He has a great sense of humor and writes beautiful, fanciful songs.
Hopefully we’ll get a good night’s sleep tonight. The schedule has been changed due to the weather forecasted and we’ve been told tomorrow will be a very full day.
